This British Standard (published in October 2012) defines the way anchors for safety critical applications are used from the specification through to commissioning and in the process to improve the level of safety and eliminate failures.
The Code sets out the roles and responsibilities of all key stakeholders from the manufacturer through specifier and distributor to contractor, installer and tester.
It includes best practice guidance on the selection and installation of fixings as the name implies and also on the methods by which anchors should be tested on site if that is needed in a CFA Guidance Note: Procedures for site testing construction fixings - 2012, which is a normative reference in the Code, i.e. it is effectively part of the BS.
Due to the complexity of the overall document the CFA has published a "CFA 8539 Toolkit" comprising series of 6 "CFA 8539 Forms" to help with the gathering and dissemination of information, 4 "How to . . . . . " guides for each of the four main stakeholders, 3 selected Guidance Notes and 2 EAD selector Charts.
